2014 World Fantasy Award Banquet

The fantasy genre’s version of the Oscar is the World Fantasy Award, which is given each year at a formal banquet that concludes World Fantasy Convention. This year it was held in Washington D.C., and I was able to go. Here’s a short clip I shot during dinner, followed by a list of the award winners. Enjoy!

Hangin’ with Those Who Love Dragons

Guess where I spent four awesome days recently? You’re about to find out. I leave you with this warning: Meddle not in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy, and good with ketchup.

What’s Cookin’ in the Goose Creek Kitchen?

I feel a tiny bit bad about posting this video blog, since I’m going to eat in front of you. If I had my way, I’d invite you into my kitchen and we would sit down together over tea and scones. But since that’s not possible, I’ll eat the scones myself. (Sorry!) Enjoy!

Therapy on Halloween – Video Blog Post

My second video blog post in a week. Hey, I think I’m onto something here! And in this blog I have some guest appearances by the staff at my physical therapy office. Enjoy!

Old Friends and Chili Rellenos

Today I reconnected with a trio of delightful friends over chips and salsa, iced tea, and chili rellenos. All three of these ladies are dear to me, though I haven’t seen them for a long time. For years we belonged to a writers’ group together and thus had an impact on each others’ lives, both professionally and personally. We’ve lost …

Fan Mail and Prune Cake

I love going to the mailbox. Expectation builds as I approach, excitement in anticipating what has been placed in that little box with my name on it. In this day of electronic communication, I get a lot of email from readers, and I love (and answer) every single one. But there’s something special about receiving an actual letter from someone …

Ten Books That Have Stayed With Me

I don’t often respond to those Facebook posts that ask me to repost someone else’s status — EXCEPT when it has to do with books! Recently someone tagged me in a post and asked me to list ten books that have stayed with me for any reason. Who can resist spending a few minutes thinking about her favorite books? Ah, …
