The other day my not-quite-two-year-old grandson got a splinter in his finger. By the time he showed his parents his “owie,” the skin had closed over and the area had become red and swollen. Mommy and Daddy borrowed a needle from me and proceeded to remove the splinter. Oh, Dominic did not like that! “It hurts, it hurts!” he cried as his father gently prodded the wound. His mother held him close and told him, “We have to do this so it will heal, baby.”
Life’s like that, isn’t it? True, deep healing comes through a wound.
“But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:4-6)
