Every novelist dreams that one day they’ll see their story come alive on screen as a movie, but so often that’s a pipe dream that never materializes. There are tons of really, really good books that are never made into movies, while some that readers would consider mediocre are. Why? Various reasons, almost all of them out of control of the author. But…
…it has happened for me!
My book, Guilty Secrets, has been made into a feature-length film! The movie is now streaming on the Lifetime channel with a new title (which I love) – “The Lies We Bury.” The movie was directed by the awesome Lindsay Hartley, and stars Kyla Nova as Rylee Kerrigan, a young attorney determined to right a 25-year-old wrong that sent an innocent woman to prison for murder. It also features an actress I’ve admired for a long time – Dee Wallace (who played the mother in “ET, the Extra Terrestrial.”)
What a thrill it was to sit in the living room with my husband, Brad, and watch the story that had come alive so vividly in my mind unfold on the screen in front of us. And to see my name roll up on the credits. And to see my book, with the original cover, appear in the movie – not once, but twice! There’s only one word to describe the feeling – surreal!
If you see the movie, I hope you’ll take a moment to let me know what you think. And if you’d like an autographed copy of Guilty Secrets so you can see how the story translated from the page to the screen, I’ll be happy to autograph a copy for you! Send me a note through my website’s contact page.
