If you know anything at all about me, you know I love books. I love to write them, read them, buy them, borrow them, and I love to check them out at the library. So it probably won’t come as a surprise that I like to display them, and in order to do that creatively, I need bookends.
I love bookends.
I mean, what’s not to love? They bring a sense of order and structure to what would otherwise become a big, messy pile of literary discord. Let me show you some of my favorites.

The guy on the left peeking over the top to see what his brother is reading makes me smile!

These lions remind me of Aslan. Anyone else?

Owls are wise, so they must read books, right?
This next pair was a Christmas present from my sister. (In fact, several of my bookends have come from Beth!). This one combines three of my favorite things – books, bookends, and dragons!

Who doesn’t love dragons and castles?
Some bookends just catch my eye, like these.

These must be really DEEP books, because these guys are thinking hard!

Pineapples are just plain fun!
But you don’t have to use actual bookends to organize your books. You can use anything that catches your fancy.

A pretty planter filled with rocks for stability.

Need I say it? I’m a Star Wars fan!
Wikipedia says, “The word bookend is also used metaphorically to refer to any pair of items which frame and define a significant or noteworthy event or place.” Books are significant, so they deserve to be framed and defined, don’t you think?
