What Am I Working On?

I get this question a lot. Probably because I’ve been such a dismal failure at sending newsletters and keeping people informed. Mea culpa! I’ve been busy with … well, with a million things. Not an excuse, really, but definitely the reason!

I’m super excited about the two books I’m working on right now. The first is for Guidepost’s series “Extraordinary Women of the Bible.” I am working on the story of Deborah, prophetess and judge of Israel in roughly 1200 b.c. The research that must be done on this book is tremendous. Deborah was the only female judge during the time between the Israelites’ settling in the promised land and God appointing the first king (at the peoples’ request.) She is truly a unique and strong character! But think about it – I have to write her story and show her actually giving wisdom. The Bible says she taught the Torah while seated under a palm tree on a hill.

Uh, yeah. I’m not actually a Torah scholar. That means I’m doing a lot of research. And imagining what kind of conflicts people would bring to Deborah to arbitrate. And praying! Lots of praying!

It’s going to be an amazingly awesome book.

The next book I have to write (with a very short deadline) is the 12th book in an upcoming series by Annie’s Fiction, the Irish Tearoom Mysteries. I’ve written book #1, and book #5, and now I’m writing book #12. I know the release of this series has been delayed until 2024, so I can’t tell you when the books will be available, but I can tell you that I LOVE this series! Here’s the cover for the first book. Isn’t it awesome?

And yes, I’m planning a trip to Ireland soon. I gotta do research, right?!?!?!
